The demonstration began at 10:40 AM. Many children from many schools participated in this demonstration. They said to me that they don't forget her and they will not forget her, that she is in their hearts not far: this is the children words. They promise God that they will not forget her. that we will not forget her no matter what. We started the demonstration with 300 children, because she always loved them, but i was surprised when I saw many youth come to say we remember her also. The children reenacted her death story, her story with the bulldozer.
The signs said :Israel killed our children, our friend Rachel and the peace." "Rachel, American nationality, Palestinian in her solidarity." The Parliament sign said: "Rachel Corrie lived with us in Rafah and we spent many happy days with her, in our struggle and challenge of Zionism. She was like our sister, a close friend. She participated and took part in the activites of our community. She shared our wishes and our dreams to defend our rights.
She took part in the trial of George Bush held by our Children's Parliament which sent him to jail."
I ask Safa. a girl from the Parliament, about Rachel. She told me how they loved her because she was the first one from ISM to visit them, and how she loved them, and how they love her. She told me that one day Rachel asked her about her life in Rafah, and how the children live. She asked her, "How dp you live in this situation? How?" She said, "It's good to know people like you. Its good to visit this country. It's good to learn more." She said this, but they didn't give her the time to learn. They killed her.
Tarek, 12 years old, said no one forgets her, and he told me his story with her. When Rachel asked them to play football, they agreed to let her play with them. But when someone strange came, they (the team) said, "We will not play with that boy." They loved her more when she took the football and said, "We will not play." He said, I tried to kiss her but I'm a boy and man, and I should not do that, but I put my self between her hands. Then she kissed me. When she took the football and said, "We will stop, when he leaves us we will play." All the team was still with her, and forgot me. After 10 minutes she said, "We can play as a team." Everyone agreed because she gave us a chance and heard us. Tarek cried because he felt as though this story had happened only hours ago, not a year.
That's all for today, my friends.
