Uranium Munitions "DU" Action Team

ARTICLE X.  ACTION TEAMS (Adopted December 19, 2004)

 Section 1.  Rather than utilize Standing Committees, RCCVFP will function principally through Action Teams. Each team will then organize, coordinate and direct specific functions and/or specific types of tasks upon approval of the general membership.

 Section 2.  Chapter members will determine what Action Teams are to be created and also can dissolve an Action Team at any time.

 Section 3.  The Action Team will be comprised of those who have an interest in a specific event or function or those who have a special talent/skill/connection to make an event or function successful. Each team will consist of three or more members and have a single leader who will report monthly at the general membership meeting.


Purpose: The purpose of the DU action team: Raise awareness of health implications of DU . Assess whether there is local contamination. Create documentation of what we cite.

Objectives: 

  1. Create alliances with other groups like VFW.
  2. Political involvement with letters and meetings. Ken, Jim and Molly to meet with Adam Smith on Feb 28th to discuss DU.
  3. Work with VA to find out what is being done regarding testing.
  4. Find out what test being used. What have been the result of test past 15 years.
  5. What is the criteria that is being used from other countries to define health implications: New Zealand, Australia and GB.
  6. What are the local sources for testing.
  7. Disseminate the DVD's on DU.
  8. Support the Pentagon accountability effort to put pressure on Dr. Kilpatrick.
  9. Eventually request funding from National for funding for testing.
